The San Francisco Surfrider Foundation is dedicated to the protection and enjoyment of the world’s ocean, waves, and beaches, for all people, through a powerful activist network. We are a volunteer-run, non-profit organization consisting of a diverse group of activists, researchers, and dedicated Bay Area community members. We work at the local, state, and federal levels to protect and enjoy the places we love.
The San Francisco Surfrider Foundation leverages the advocacy and resources of a national organization to address local threats and create localized solutions. And with about 40% of the world's population living within 100 km of a coast, there are a lot of problems that need solutions. San Francisco residents rely on the beaches for fun, food, jobs, relaxation and restoration. Protecting the health and vitality of our beaches and coastlines is essential, period. - Pete
